Process Maps

Sample cross-functional process map

This sample contains a cross-functional process map for feeding a dog (my dog!) and a related process flow for preparing the food. The cross-functional map is linked to the process flow, and vice-versa, for ease of use. Both documents were created in Visio and then exported to PDF. The zipped sample contains both file formats.

These are fairly simple diagrams, using common, basic, shapes. More complex diagrams can use several other shapes, such as those denoting documents, databases, or even differentiating between automated and manual processes. Symbols also vary depending upon the mapping or modeling language used, such as BPMN or UML. Similarly, process maps can contain varying degrees of detail. My goal here is merely to demonstrate my use of Visio and my ability to analyze, break down, and map a process.
